Mark Fry is fast becoming a renowned Martial Arts & Self Protection expert and is an experienced individual in dealing with both the positive and negative effects of adrenalin / fear, and learning to control the psyche when dealing with aggressive confrontation, a key part of self protection.
At this stage I need not talk about violence in society, as the media highlights this on a continuous basis. Rather than focus on the problem, I want to focus on a tangible solution, and my initial approach to self-defence is prevention via awareness, as this is far more palatable than the often-unlikely cure of physical violence.
The physical training of I.S.P Integrated Self Protection includes, but is not limited to, scenarios and defence against fundamental weapons. Importance is placed on simple, high-percentage pressure tested moves which minimises or eliminates elements of martial arts training that are not directly related to practical application, such as acrobatic or aesthetic techniques, rituals, ceremony and kata.
I.S.P Integrated Self Protection also encourages the practitioner to experience gradual fear exposure, within a supervised environment. Fear via anxiety will always be induced during confrontation, as this is an emotional response to tangible and realistic dangers. Therefore self-protection starts with protection of one’s mind.
Fear is a survival mechanism, and usually occurs in response to a specific negative stimulus. Fear surrounds us and is also responsible for stopping us from expanding our comfort zones, and moving forward in life. By understanding our natural reaction in fear-inducing environments and circumstances we learn to manage that fear and respond calmly with confidence.
Therefore,
Welcome to I.S.P
Integrated Self Protection, Prediction and Prevention of Violence and Management of Fear.
